Abstract
Objective: To review in the scientific literature about the importance of prenatal care for the preparation of vaginal delivery. Bibliographic review: The preparation of pregnant women for delivery is essential to obtain a satisfactory result at the time of delivery, in order to provide maternal well-being. Therefore, it is important, during prenatal care, to instruct pregnant women both about body changes and manifestations that occur during pregnancy and at the time of delivery, as to the advantages of a more natural delivery. Such concepts can be offered through educational lectures, training sessions, groups of pregnant women who share their experiences and consultations with doctors and nurses. Information on labor favors a good outcome and helps to reduce the incidence of complications. Final considerations: Preparation for childbirth, through health promotion, education, follow-up and counseling during prenatal care reduces tensions and longings related to low conception. Thus, the treatment of vaginal delivery increases and better outcomes are achieved, ensuring the good development of childbirth and role of the parturient.
