Resumen

Objective: Verify the clinical and epidemiological characteristics of patients who were affected by COVID-19 and analyze the main post-COVID-19 symptoms and their clinical repercussions. Methods: This is an observational cross-sectional study, with 311 participants of both sexes, aged over 18 years, and with a diagnosis of COVID-19 confirmed by tests. Data collection was carried out in the period between July/2021 and February/2022, by filling out a form created in Google Forms, which was disseminated through social media. The study was approved by the Research Ethics Committee. Results: 69.13% of the participants are female, with a mean age of 32.0 ± 12.61. There was a low rate of hospitalization inward and/or ICU and a low rate of recurrence of COVID-19. Fatigue, olfactory and palate loss/decrease, persistent shortness of breath and tiredness at minimal exertion were prevalent characteristics for more than 3 weeks in the participants. Less prevalent symptoms involved changes in excretory function, persistent shortness of breath, loss/decrease in appetite, hair loss, cough and headache. Conclusion: The findings corroborate the understanding of the Post-COVID-19 Syndrome and are congruent with the literature, denoting the multisystemic condition that the disease brings to patients, especially in the long term.
