Abstract

Objective: To report the therapeutic management of a case of advanced rhinophyma rosacea, comparing it with the literature in order to highlight relevant aspects for clinical practice. Case report: A 67-year-old male patient attended a medical consultation presenting progressive nasal enlargement associated with erythema, telangiectasia, and facial papules on physical examination. The case was notable for the extensive and advanced stage of rhinophyma, with significant aesthetic and functional impairment reported by the patient. The proposed treatment consisted of ablative laser therapy, intense pulsed light (IPL), and chemical cauterization, combined with adjunctive measures such as strict photoprotection and continuous skin care. A significant clinical improvement was observed, including reduction of hypertrophic tissue, improvement in skin coloration, decreased inflammatory activity, and partial restoration of nasal contour, in addition to high patient satisfaction. Final considerations: The combined therapeutic approach proved effective in the management of advanced rhinophyma, contributing to relevant clinical, functional, and aesthetic improvement, as well as promoting greater patient satisfaction regarding appearance and therapeutic progression.
