Abstract
Objective: To present a brief, updated review about the future perspective of Waist Muscular Dystrophy type 2A. Methods: This is an integrative literature review. The databases used were from PubMed, Scielo, Lilacs and Google Scholar, using the MESH terms: “Muscular Dystrophies”, “Limb-Girdle”, “2A”, “neurology”, “childhood”. 91 articles were found, of these 14 were selected for eligibility, and 4 articles were included for this brief review, according to the inclusion criteria. Results: Waist muscular dystrophy is a prevalent and important pathology of the group of muscle diseases caused by unusual genetic alterations, associated with loss of motor function and the possibility of developing heart diseases. As it is a degenerative disease of rapid progression and bad prognosis, appearing in the transition from childhood to adolescence, it is an important public health issue, which requires early and multidisciplinary treatment. Final considerations: Waist dystrophy is a problem that affects, in addition to the affected young person, health services and the social environment. Early multidisciplinary treatment with physiotherapy remains associated with recent molecular approaches and modern drugs is the best prospect for slowing the progression of the disease.
