Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the impact of a clowning project on the empathy of medical students. Methods: A quantitative cross-sectional study was carried out. Students' empathy was assessed using the Jefferson Scale of Physician Empathy revised (JSPE-R) empathy scale, digitally. Two different groups of students were analyzed: participants or not in the clown group. The statistical software SPSS for Windows®, version 21.0 was used. For comparison between groups, T-Student or Mann-Whitney tests were used, depending on the normality of the data and p<0.05. Results: There were no statistically significant differences in empathy scores when comparing the two groups. Conclusion: Considering the importance of the conclusion and the work studies of this construction, with larger casuistry and using instruments of evaluation of empathy are other studies for further investigation of the subject.
