Abstract

Objective: To examine the pattern of hypersensitivity reactions to Local Anesthetics (LA) in relation to the type of anesthetic used and age group of patients. Methods: A methodological approach was carried out, this work proposes a compilation of qualitative and descriptive research approaches through an integrated literature review in the National Library of Medicine (PubMed), Virtual Health Library (BVS) and Directory of Open databases. Access Journals (DOAJ) with the descriptors: “Anesthetics Local” and “Hypersensitivity” using the Boolean operator “and”. Inclusion criteria were randomized, non-randomized clinical trials, case-control studies, cohort study, free access, published in English, Portuguese, Spanish and between 2017 and 2022. Results: Of the 10 selected articles, we evaluated the LA responsible for side effects and a comparative table was constructed, which is composed of the number of individuals approached in the studies, year of publication, LA used, usual dose, anaphylactic reaction and age group. Final considerations: Thus, it was noted that lidocaine is more common among anesthetics and at a typical dose of 2 mg/mL due to adverse effects. In addition, the most frequent anaphylactic reactions are pruritic, erythematous, vesicular rash and papule.
