Abstract
Objective: Describe the use of minimally invasive intestinal resections in the management of Crohn's disease. Bibliographic review: Crohn's disease is an autoimmune intestinal disease associated with systemic manifestations. Its etiology has not yet been fully elucidated, but there are already environmental risk factors involved, such as smoking and a diet rich in industrialized products. The choice of treatment should be based on the subtype, location and severity of the pathology. Although clinical treatment remains the main choice, minimally invasive surgical treatments such as single-incision laparoscopic surgery, and robotic-assisted laparoscopic surgery have been major cornerstones in the management of these patients. It was found that this combination of methods reduces the time and new quality of complications, improving the patient's life. Final considerations: Minimally invasive surgeries allowed several advances for patients. In addition, it has provided benefits for the open surgery procedure as it provides an overview of the entirety of the organs involved in Crohn's Disease.
