Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the most effective existing treatments against recurrent respiratory infection, to reach a conclusion on the best approach for these cases. Methods: This work fundamentally proposes to carry out bibliographic research with a qualitative and descriptive perspective in the format of an integrative literature review where data from the National Library of Medicine (PubMed), Virtual Health Library (BVS) and Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) were used with descriptors “Respiratory Tract Infections”, “Child” and “Recurrence”. Thus, as inclusion criteria, full text, articles in English, Portuguese, Spanish, incidence study, controlled clinical trials, clinical trials, randomized or not, incidence studies and publications from 2017 to 2022. Results: After the results were identified and built a comparative table composed of the number of selected individuals, year published, drop in relapses, authors and technique or drugs, finding that vaccination with Streptococcus salivarius 24SMBc and Streptococcus oralis 89a and diet through oral nutritional supplementation are the results found for decrease in recurrence. Final Considerations: Thus, there is no consensus on the treatment for recurrent respiratory infections, requiring the evaluation of each case to minimize the chances of error and not harm patients.
