Abstract

Objective: To explore available clinical data on vitamin E supplementation in the treatment of Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD). Methods: This study consists of an integrative literature review conducted through a comprehensive search of articles in electronic databases, including PubMed, Medline, and Science Direct. The search was performed using combinations of English keywords such as "Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease," "supplementation," "treatment," and "vitamin E." Article screening was based on the publication date, covering the last 5 years of research on the topic of NAFLD treatment with vitamin E. Results: After conducting the article search across various selected databases, 6 publications were found in ScienceDirect, 191 in Medline, and 31 in PubMed, totaling 222 publications. Applying the criteria established in this study, we identified 13 articles suitable for this review. Treatment with vitamin E supplementation has been shown to reduce and/or reverse the NAFLD condition. Final considerations: Faced with the lack of more effective therapeutic options, vitamin E emerges as a safe and accessible alternative, offering a promising outlook for patients affected by NAFLD.
