Abstract
Objective: To analyze the characteristics of coagulopathies associated with infection by the new coronavirus. Bibliographic review: With the advancement of the disease, it was realized that in addition to affecting the lung, this infection could also predestinate thrombolytic diseases due to high inflammatory capacity and homeostatic disorder, endothelial oxidative stress caused by hypoxia and disseminated intravascular coagulation. Infection is marked by an increase in D-dimer. In addition, patients had high levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines in the circulatory system, such as interleukins 1 and 6 and Tumor Necrosis Factor (TNF), forming the concept of a cytokine storm that causes a large endothelial injury. Final considerations: Due to the current Covid-19 pandemic, the study of its pathophysiology and its complications has become essential, one of the most important being the thromboembolic events that result from the activation of the immune system and the cytokine storm that causes a endothelium inflammation and a hypercoagulable state. In this sense, it is important that the treatment of patients be evaluated individually in this situation, considering the risk benefit of prophylactic anticoagulation in addition to a well-done clinical evaluation in order to reduce morbidity and mortality from this condition.
