Abstract

Objective: To analyze the current scientific production about the diagnosis related to cardiac involvement in pediatric patients with multisystemic inflammatory syndrome (MIS-C) associated with Covid-19. Methods: This was an integrative literature review, with a search in three databases, Pubmed, Lilacs, SciELO, using the descriptors "Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome", "Pediatric", "Covid-19", "SARS-CoV-2" and "Diagnosis", using as inclusion criteria studies published in the last five years. 950 studies were found, and after the inclusion criteria, 13 articles were selected to compose the study. Results: Cardiac involvement of pediatric patients is understood in the context of MIS-C post Covid-19, with consequent systemic hyper inflammatory conditions such as shock, arrhythmias, risk of coronary artery abnormality or even coronary artery dilatation and aneurysm. Laboratory parameters, which can be used in the complementary diagnosis, are compatible with a severe inflammatory response. Appropriate management with pharmacological treatment is advised, prioritizing long-term follow-up to avoid further complications. Final considerations: Pediatric patients diagnosed with MIS-C associated with Covid-19 are considered to have severe cardiac complications, but with a positive prognosis if diagnosed early.
