Abstract

Objective: To analyze the effectiveness of radiofrequency as an alternative for the treatment of sexual dysfunctions. Bibliographic Review: Female sexual dysfunction (FSD) compromises the sexual life and quality of life of patients, in order to limit and restrict their activities. In this context, the treatment of this dysfunction is very broad, with pharmacological options or not and invasive or not procedures. Radiofrequency is a non-invasive method of emitting high-frequency electromagnetic waves. This technique stimulates neocollagenesis and neoelastogenesis of the vaginal mucosa, thus helping wound healing, promoting greater elasticity, epithelial integrity and moisture. The literature also describes improvement in nerve sensitivity in these procedures, which consequently improves the patient's sexual function and quality of life. Finally, radiofrequency is a great alternative for treatment and can be used in combination with others, such as psychotherapy, which is essential for disorders of psychogenic origin. Final considerations: Radiofrequency is a favorable, safe and effective alternative to treat FSD in all patients, especially in patients who have contraindications to hormone therapy treatment.
