Abstract
Objective: To identify through scientific literature the impacts on the quality of life of adult patients with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) with delayed diagnosis and lack of treatment. Methods: Integrative Literature Review conducted from July to August 2022, through searches in the following databases SciELO, PubMed and Lilacs. 1346 articles were found and selected, after the inclusion criteria, 14 studies to compose. Results: The different types of studies analyzed point to the fact that, besides the clinical evaluation and scale for diagnosing ADHD in adults being directed, based on the symptomatology presented in this age group, the impacts on the quality of life of these patients are evident. Thus, the importance of the diagnosis is evidenced by the need for effective treatment in order to provide a better quality of life for such patients. Final considerations: It is necessary to expand the field of research on attention deficit hyperactivity disorder in adult patients in order to provide a better understanding of the impacts of life generated by the disorder, especially in cases of late diagnosis, thus enabling appropriate treatment and improved quality of life.
