Abstract
Objective: To analyze the relationship between medication treatment and COVID-19 vaccines and the aggravation of cardiovascular complications. Methods: This is an integrative review conducted between August and November 2023. The databases used were the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES), the National Library of Medicine, and the National Institutes of Health (PUBMED), and the Virtual Health Library (BVS). The descriptors used were "Heart Diseases", "Cardiovascular complications", "COVID-19", "Treatment" and "SARS-CoV-2" with the Boolean operator "AND." Review studies were excluded, and articles written in English and published between 2020 and 2023 were included. Results: Out of the 19 articles studied, 7 addressed medication treatment, which resulted in clinical improvement and increased survival time. The remaining 12 articles related to vaccines showed that the risk of cardiovascular complications is rare, with a higher frequency in young males. Final considerations: There were no significant occurrences of cardiovascular complications in patients who underwent medication treatment or received the vaccine for the disease, both of which are essential in combating the illness.
