Abstract
Objective: To analyze the prevalence and identify the profile of patients affected by tuberculosis in children under 15 years of age. Methods: This is a cross-sectional, descriptive, retrospective observational study, with a quantitative approach, through the collection of epidemiological data and a bibliographic review of the literature. The information was obtained from DATASUS, in the subsections of the Notifiable Diseases Information System (SINAN) and Mortality Information System (SIM). Results: 27,715 cases of tuberculosis were reported in Brazil. The most affected sex was male (52.0%), the most common age group is 10 to 14 years old (39.5%), the predominant race is brown (49.1%). Conclusion: The predominant profile was children between 10 and 14 years old, of mixed race, male, with the highest number of cases reported in the Southeast region, in the year 2022. The North region had a higher incidence due to the high number of patients in the age group studied. Mortality is associated with the pattern of the most affected patient.
