Abstract

Objective: Report a case of Renal Tuberculosis, an infectious disease caused by the bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Case details: Information was collected based on the carrier's physical and electronic records, following appropriate guidelines. The patient, who already suffered from chronic kidney disease and had been undergoing renal replacement therapy for two years, was admitted in December 2022 and was diagnosed with renal tuberculosis. Final considerations: Extrapulmonary tuberculosis, including genitourinary tract involvement, is reported in about 15% of tuberculosis cases. Clinical manifestations can be varied and not necessarily preceded by typical pulmonary symptoms. Diagnosis is often challenging and delayed, leading to permanent damage. In this case, the patient had chronic kidney disease and developed renal tuberculosis, emphasizing the importance of recognizing this atypical form of the disease and early diagnosis for the appropriate treatment and management of patients with extrapulmonary tuberculosis
