Abstract
Objective: To report the case of a patient with stromal fibroepithelial polyp on the vulva treated in a city in the interior of São Paulo, scientifically reviewing the subject, including clinical picture, diagnosis and therapy. Case details: Female patient, 46 years old, seeks municipal emergency care due to a large, rough, pediculous, painful vulvar lesion with sporadic bleeding, resulting in difficulty in carrying out daily activities. The condition was insidious, with progressive growth and resulted in functional impairment. The patient was referred to a tertiary hospital, where the lesion was excised, with material sent for anatomopathological analysis. The result of the immunohistochemical study showed a stromal fibroepithelial polyp positive for estrogen receptors. Final considerations: Fibroepithelial polyps are a type of benign tumor that can affect different regions of the body, with a low prevalence in the vulva. It is more common in obese, hypertensive and diabetic women. When they have a hormone receptor, it becomes a rarer lesion and is easily confused with a malignant tumor. The clinical picture is variable and depends on the size and time of evolution of the lesion, with excision being the treatment.
