Abstract

Objective: To assess the response of individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and their families to social isolation during the pandemic. Methods: This study adopted an integrative literature review approach, thoroughly examining scientific articles published from 2020 to 2022. Following a meticulous selection process based on stringent inclusion and exclusion criteria, and culminating in an analytical procedure, 20 articles were identified and preserved out of the initially considered 244. Results: After a detailed analysis of the selected corpus, it was concluded that the period of home confinement resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic had a challenging impact on all evaluated individuals, with a more pronounced incidence of distress observed among those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and their respective families and caregivers. Final considerations: The assessment highlighted that home isolation during the COVID-19 pandemic posed a challenging impact for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and their families.
