Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the impact of the development of diuretics resistance in their use for the treatment of congestive heart failure, its etiology, how to foresee it and evade it. Methods: integrative review, which selected 20 publications from international databases such as Scopus and PubMed. The included articles were analyzed based on relevance and methodological quality criteria. The research covered studies published until 2024, providing a comprehensive overview of the investigated topic. Results: The chosen articles contemplate studies from diverse countries, all of which point to the possible pharmacological measures in the management of diuretic resistance, especially and gravely ill patients.  The integration of these studies collaborates for the creation of new procedures considering the possible benefits of alterations: in the administration routes and of possible drug interactions of certain classes of diuretics. Final considerations: These studies are an excellent assistance for the differential treatment, while still existing the need of further studies to amplify the knowledge about possible mechanisms that could lead to this condition, such as self-medicating.
