Abstract

Objective: To elucidate the main symptom of the presented diagnostic criteria and the immunological context of SARS-CoV-2 associated with Pediatric Inflammatory Multisystem Syndrome (PIMS) present in the pediatric population during the Covid-19 pandemic. Methods: This is a retrospective study of qualitative and cross-sectional analysis carried out from an integrative literature review. In April 2021, the following databases were used: National Library of Medicine (PubMed) and ScienceDirect. The descriptors applied in both data sources were “Kawasaki disease like”, “covid 19” and “association”. The inclusion criteria were articles available for free and, as exclusion criteria, duplicate articles, those with escape from the main theme and article types (literature review, hypothesis articles, editorial and manual). Results: Among the 24 selected articles, it was observed that 23 showed cardiac involvement. In relation to such involvement, 14 articles presented the presence of hypotension. Of the 22 articles that showed positivity for the virus, 11 confirmed immunoglobulin G reagent and 4 showed a negative result for SARS-CoV-2. Final considerations: PIMS, therefore, is a response to the aggression of SARS-CoV-2 that mainly affects the cardiac system causing hypotension. Therefore, knowledge of the disease by health professionals is important.
