Abstract

Objective: To verify if the domains and chapters of the International Classification of Functioning (ICF) are included in the validated instruments that assess functionality in patients in intensive care. Methods: Integrative review carried out from January to March 2021. The databases searched were PubMed, Embase and LILACS, using keywords, synonyms and radicals referring to: intensive care, assessment instruments and clinimetric properties. After selecting the studies, the coding step was carried out based on the domains and chapters of the ICF. Results: 147 items that could be codified by the ICF were extracted. Of these, 2% were undefined or not covered. Most of the instruments included items related to the domain of activities and participation (46%), whereas the domain of body structures had the fewest items (1%). In turn, the mobility chapter was the most discussed within the instruments. Final considerations: It is still necessary to adapt the assessment strategies within the ICUs so that the model of care for the comprehensive care of critical patients can be more effectively incorporated.
