Abstract
Objective: This study aims to analyze the therapeutic potential of botulinum toxin in the treatment of facial paralysis and bruxism. Methods: Following the PRISMA guidelines, an integrative literature review was conducted, adopting a reflective approach to the subject. The PubMed MEDLINE and Virtual Health Library (BVS) databases were used for article retrieval, employing the descriptors "botulinum toxin" combined with "bruxism" and "facial paralysis". Results: A total of 20 articles were included and grouped into three themes: "efficacy of botulinum toxin in the treatment of facial paralysis", "innovation in facial paralysis treatment with botulinum toxin", and "efficacy of botulinum toxin in the treatment of bruxism". The study included 2143 patients, demonstrating that this therapeutic approach can be indicated for the treatment of bruxism and facial paralysis. Final Considerations: The application of botulinum toxin proved to be effective in the treatment of facial paralysis and bruxism, with no need for additional adjunctive therapy in combination.
