Abstract
Objective: To develop and validate an artisanal model of low cost peripheral venous access capable of simulating the experience of the procedure. Method: Constructed from the manufacture of a synthetic skin by the combination of Silicone Liquid Rubber SPB150 and a catalyst. In addition, a galvanized wire guides a rubber latex tube through a swimming pool spatula float, which is then attached to the synthetic skin and a macrogote serum equipment system, in addition to receiving a layer of silicone glue. For validation, a Questionnaire with Likert methodology with nine questions was used. Results: Tested with students and teachers, the craft model achieved an average of 96.5% and 88.1% of approval respectively, obtaining the Validated for Teaching concept. Conclusion: The artisanal model of peripheral venous access is a low cost alternative that, without damaging real patients for training, can be constructed and democratized for higher education institutions.
