Abstract
Objective: To analyze the effect of LED therapy on muscles subjected to immobilization in rats. Method: Two-month old Wistar rats were used in the experimental groups: Control (C), Immobilized with acrylic resin bracing (I; 7 days), Control treated with LED (7 days of application, 630nm, 500 mW; 8-10 J / cm 2 equivalent to 30-40s) and LED treated immobilized (ILED; n = 6 group). (GI) and total protein / DNA ratio (PT / DNA) of the soleus and gastrocnemius muscles. Results: Showed that the LED group did not differ from C as GLI, PT / DNA nor the responses to the traction test. The muscles of group I were less resistant to traction and still showed lower GLI and PT / DNA indicating atrophy. In turn, in the ILED group, GLI and PT / DNA conditions were significantly better when compared to I and still showed higher resistance in the test. traction compared to I have not treated. Conclusion: LED therapy provided better energetic and possibly structural conditions, minimizing immobilization events.
