Abstract
Objective: Evaluate the irradiance of second and third generation Light Emitted by Diodes (LED) light curing in the degree of conversion and elasticity modulus of a micro-hybrid composite resin. Methods: To perform the degree of conversion, a total of 06 spherical 6x2 mm samples (n = 3) and, for the elasticity module, bar-shaped samples 7x2x1mm (n = 12) were made and distributed in two groups according to the generation of the photoactivation unit: Group I: second generation photoactivation (F-SG) and Group II: third generation photoactivation (F-TG). The data were subjected to the Kolmogorov – Smirnov normality test and after evaluating these tests, the specimens were subjected to the t-test, where significance was observed (p <0.05) - 5% for both tests. Results: Resins photoactivated with F-TG showed a higher value of degree of conversion when compared to samples F-SG (P = <0.001). The same result was found for the modulus of elasticity, as F-TG samples obtained a higher value than F-SG samples with a statistically significant difference. Conclusion: Therefore, it was possible to conclude that irradiance directly influenced the physical property of monomeric and mechanical conversion of elastic modulus of the microhybrid composite resin.
