Abstract
Objective: To elucidate the physiological and emotional repercussions of women who experience climacteric. Methods: This is an integrative literature review in the BVS database, with articles produced within a period of 5 years, between 2015 and 2020. Results: 16 articles were found that met the proposed criteria. The articles showed problems such as: anxiety, sleep disorders, libido changes, fatigue, hot flashes and changes in the cardiovascular system, usually accompanied by Systemic Arterial Hypertension and other important comorbidities such as overweight. The articles also highlight the unpreparedness of healthcare teams in the face of climacteric women and the low adherence to Hormone Replacement Treatment. It is also highlighted the low knowledge of women about the climacteric. Final considerations: The climacteric needs to be recognized as an important phase in a woman's life and not only because of the clinical symptoms, and professionals should help to promote a more active and healthy aging process.
