Abstract

Objective: To discuss, based on the literature, the application of antimicrobial photodynamic therapy (aPDT) in the treatment of skin lesions in humans in Brazil. Methods: Bibliographic research carried out between January and February 2022, in the VHL, PubMed, SciELO, Google Scholar and LILACS databases, using the DECs descriptors: “Photodynamic Therapy” and “Methylene Blue” and “Wounds”. Six articles that met the eligibility criteria and with a time frame of 10 years were included. Results: There are few studies published in Brazil, involving human beings, the description of laser parameters, FS and the use of other therapies are unsatisfactory, the focus is not on describing the microbiological action, but the reduction of the wound area. Final considerations: It was possible to perform a critical and discursive analysis on how the literature has described the application of aPDT in the treatment of skin lesions in humans in Brazil, in addition to demonstrating that the therapy contributed to improve and stimulate the healing process and tissue repair. with decreased phlogistic signs in wounds.
