Abstract

Objective: Analyze the influence of the Kangaroo Method and the prone position on vital signs, heart rate, respiratory rate, peripheral oxygen saturation and body temperature in premature infants. Methods: A literature review, 137 articles were identified,14 articles were selected, after an exhaustive study, 5 manuscripts were included in this review. Results: Canguro Method contributed to beneficial changes in the vital signs of premature births, such an increase in peripheral oxygen saturation, a consequent improvement in oxygenation, a decrease in respiratory rate, an increase in body temperature and a slight decrease in the heart rate. Prone position proved to be beneficial in vital signs, such as respiratory rate and heart rate, which decreased, and in temperature, a study demonstrated that it increased in prone position. Final considerations: Both positions can bring benefits to premature birth, Kangaroo Method, in addition to improving vital signs, contributes to maternal lactation and temperature increase. If it could not be performed for reasons such as the lack of implantation in the hospital, it could be performed in the prone position, which brings benefits to premature birth, in this study it was shown that we had little knowledge about the temperature of the prone position.
