Abstract
Objective: To analyze burnout syndrome, mental health problems and suicide among physicians. Bibliographic review: Burnout is a response to chronic emotional tension and is characterized by depersonalization, emotional exhaustion and reduced perception of self-efficacy, being one of the main mental health disorders that affects physicians due to high workloads and study. Mental stress represents the main environmental risk factor for psychiatric diseases and a prolonged state of stress can increase the propensity for depression and other mental disorders such as depression and anxiety, in addition to drug and alcohol intake. Final considerations: The mental health of physicians is mainly affected by the high workload and issues such as the daily dealing with illness and death. In this sense, the main diseases that affect this professional category are BS, depression, anxiety and suicide, the latter being more related to involvement in female doctors. Therefore, it is essential that doctors who care so much for others are also cared for with adequate mental health care with multidisciplinary treatment since graduation, in order to prevent these problems from occurring or reduce their incidence and complications such as suicide.
