Abstract

Objective: To assess sociodemographic information, lifestyle and sexuality, prenatal care and existing complications of pregnant adolescents in our region, located in Zona da Mata, of Minas Gerais. Methods: An observational study in which 1051 medical records of pregnant adolescents were analyzed. From the medical records, data from the anamnesis (pregnancy, deliveries, abortions, number of consultations, drug use, marital status, sexual life), physical examination data and the results of complementary exams (urine, blood count, serology) were copied. of clinical and obstetric complications. Based on the variables studied, composite tables were produced with absolute and relative frequency, and measures of position, central tendency and dispersion were calculated. Results: The adolescents, despite being located in the Southeast region, the richest in the country, dropped out of school, lived with their parents and increased repetition in school. They became pregnant on average two years after the beginning of sexual activity. In the multivariate analysis, age at first sexual intercourse was associated with number of pregnancies, age, alcohol consumption, number of sexual partners, age at first pregnancy, and school dropout. Conclusion: Pregnant adolescents suffer from school dropout and repetition and the lower the age at first sexual intercourse, the greater the number of pregnancies.
