Abstract

Objective: To present the etiological factors associated with premature Rupture of Membranes in Preterm Pregnancy (RPMPT), as well as the diagnostic methods and possible approaches that can be adopted in the face of this clinical manifestation. Methods: This is an integrative literature review, with a survey of scientific documents carried out in the Virtual Health Library, Scientific Electronic Library Online, Latin American and Caribbean Literature on Health Sciences and PubMED, using the descriptors Premature rupture of membranes Fetal complications, etiology, clinical management, preterm delivery. Results: After searching the databases, 1,755 scientific documents were found and of these only 18 articles presented data relevant to this study; 4 articles addressed risk factors, 4 articles addressed forms of diagnosis and 10 articles addressed forms of clinical management. Final considerations: Through the analysis of the selected studies, it can be inferred that there is still a need for more research so that the possible etiologies and risk factors are in fact elucidated; in addition, to determine a specific and sensitive diagnosis that allows it to be performed early and, consequently, allow improvements in clinical management, aiming at better outcomes for the maternal-fetal binomial.
