Abstract

Objective: To carry out an analysis of the literature on aspects of pre-anesthetic and surgical treatments, with a focus on cardiovascular surgeries. Bibliographic review: Cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of death in Brazil and in the world and high public health costs in the country, promoting a large number of cardiovascular surgeries. Correction of the surgical risk and the use of risks is fundamental for the assessment of mortality rates due to decrease or complications. The Revised Cardiac Risk Index -Criterion- is the main criterion currently used, based on pre-existing comorbidities and the type of surgery. However, for cardiovascular surgeries the requirements need to be more specific, using the EuroSCOREII. As for the employment of employees, resources are needed that operate with the purpose of surgery and less harmful adverse effects. Final considerations: It is up to the anesthesiologist, already in the preoperative consultation, to evaluate the patient and plan all the necessary actions during cardiovascular surgery and postoperative pain management. The role of the anesthesiologist is essential to provide the stability necessary for the work of the cardiovascular surgeon, considering the high risks of the procedure.
