Abstract

Objective: Investigate the policies and programs of the Unified Health System (UHS) on digitalization in health and discuss the scientific production on the subject and the dental field within the UHS. Methods: This is an integrative review in which studies were considered that described actions in dentistry carried out in the context of the UHS through e-Health tools published in Portuguese, English and Spanish from December 20, 1996, to January 31, 2022, in the Virtual Health Library. In addition, documents were analyzed, such as ordinances and resources in the official portals of the Ministry of Health. Results: In the survey, 574 studies were found and, after the analysis, 10 remained. It was found that 9 were about Teledentistry and, of these, seven about teleconsulting and only one study about mobile applications. Final considerations: The small number of studies found on the subject, with a priority focus on teledentistry actions, highlights important gaps in the development of UHS policies and programs for e-Health in the dental field. It is hoped that this review can direct future research and interventions using e-Health within the UHS, thus helping to improve work processes, as well as the oral health of Brazilians assisted by it.
