Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the benefits of neuromuscular electrostimulation in patients affected by Covid-19. Methods: An integrative literature review was carried out, having as one of the criteria articles published between 2019 and 2022, performing searches through the following databases: SciELO, LILACS Literature, PUBMED, MEDLINE, PEDro. Results: 27 articles were found in the database, after a more careful analysis, 6 articles were selected to compose the results of this work. Final considerations: We can consider neuromuscular electrostimulation as a therapeutic resource, presented, for patients with loss of muscle mass, resulting from Covid-19. Being a therapy that presents relevant results in the impedance of sarcopenia, maintaining the thickness of the muscles and reducing the cases of morbidity and mortality. Since patients with longer stays in the hospital environment are at risk of contamination, longer use of mechanical ventilation, consequently, decreases the time of medication use and time of disuse of the muscles. The resource can be used in conscious/cooperative or sedated/unconscious patients, recruiting the musculature in an electrophysiological way.
