Abstract

Objective:  To report the case of a young male patient with a history of recurrent and severe oral ulcerations, but without gastrointestinal symptoms. Case details: During the investigation of the case after admission to a general hospital, Crohn's disease of the large intestine was diagnosed, but with important oral manifestations. Patient with a history of major and intermittent ulcerated lesions in the oral mucosa for four years. She reported an increase in the frequency of the appearance of lesions in the last year, and one month before the hospitalization date, she started to suffer from odynophagia, hyporexia and weight loss of seven kilos. Upon examination of the respiratory system, she had physiologically distributed breath sounds. Colonoscopy resulted in an ascending colon with deformity in the cecum, aphthoid ulcerations, hyperemia and distortion of appearance at the site. Final considerations: The case is relevant because it is an unusual presentation of this inflammatory bowel disease, and a bibliographic review on the subject has also been carried out, which demonstrated that there are few similar reports in the world. It is suggested that the health professional should also be aware of this form of Crohn's disease.
