Management of the multidisciplinary team to palliative patients in the intensive care unit: an integrative review

Abstract

Objective: To identify in the scientific literature the appropriate management for the palliative patient coming from the multidisciplinary team within the ICU. Methods: With searches made from the electronic libraries BVS and SCIELO with the following bases: LILACS, IBECS, MEDLINE and PUBMED, the study in question refers to an integrative literature review. A rigorous search was carried out for studies published in the last 5 years, as they contain more relevance on the subject. Results: In general, 820 articles were identified in the set of search libraries, finally totaling 14 articles for the construction and use of this article. Palliative patient care The multidisciplinary team must be in assiduous communication with each other. Within the hospital context, palliative care is surrounded by the use of different materials, updated equipment and professionals from different areas, resulting in the need for many resources and detailed treatments due to the complexity of the patient's disease. Final considerations: However, it is important to emphasize that the conducts performed with the terminal patient within the intensive care unit must be taken in agreement with the entire multidisciplinary team.
