Abstract

Objective: To describe, from the scientific literature, myocarditis as cardiotoxicity resulting from the use of chemotherapy and immunotherapy in cancer patients. Methods: An integrative literature review study of a qualitative nature with an exploratory descriptive approach. The following databases were used Scielo, Pubmed and Scopus. Data analysis included pre-analysis, material exploration and data processing. After the critical analysis, the studies were selected for analysis and analysis for the definition and composition of the analytical categories that answered the north question of the question. Results: Ten articles were found consistent with our objective. Both chemotherapy and immunotherapy are treatments that are common in cancer patients. Final considerations: It was possible to consider the main points of relationship between chemotherapeutic and immunotherapeutic oncology and cardiovascular effects. Cardiotoxicity is one of the most significant adverse events during cancer treatment, being responsible for complications in cancer patients. Myocarditis has emerged as a serious toxicity associated with antineoplastic treatment, although it appears to be infrequent cases.
