Abstract

Objective: To review the types of traumatic injuries in the primary dentition and to evaluate the prevalence of variables in cases of dental trauma. Bibliographic review: The earlier the trauma occurs, the greater the probability of involvement of the successor tooth, due to the initial stage of formation in which the tooth germ is. The negative impact generated by dental trauma on children's quality of life is of great relevance, and proper management and treatment are also extremely important. The immediate treatment proposed by most of the literature is spontaneous repositioning, which usually occurs within 6 months, or in cases where occlusal interference is found, active or digital repositioning and splinting are recommended, except when the tooth is in an advanced stage of exfoliation. Final considerations: It was found that the prognosis is linked to the management at the place where the trauma occurred and the follow-up of the case, in order to maintain the integrity of the tooth.
