Abstract
Objective: To review the scientific literature on Supraventricular and Ventricular Arrhythmias in patients with Metabolic Syndrome (MS). Methods: Integrative literature review, with searches on Pubmed, Google Scholar, Lilacs, of articles from the last 10 years. The descriptors used were ¨Metabolic Syndrome¨ AND ¨Arrythmia¨. Inclusion Criteria: (1) be performed in humans; (2) sample people over 18 years of age; (3) use the parameters established by the WHO, NCEP-ATPIII or IDF as criteria for MS; (4) having a control group; (5) the study population does not have other chronic comorbidities such as multiple sclerosis, chronic kidney disease, heart problems and others; (6) to correlate cardiac arrhythmia parameters with MS between MS- and MS+ patients. Results: Eight articles met the inclusion criteria. All articles worked with people drawn from the general population. Both sexes were addressed in the works. Atrial Fibrillation (AF) was the predominant arrhythmia. The most relevant factors when evaluated individually were SAH and Abdominal Obesity. Final Considerations: The more severe the patient's MS condition, the more severe the arrhythmia. Therefore, it is evident the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle to avoid the development of risk factors that trigger the Metabolic Syndrome.
