Abstract
Objective: To assess the knowledge of health professionals about the perception of pain in neonates. Methods: An integrative literature review was carried out; the search for articles was carried out through the SciELO, PUBMED and Acervo+ Index Base databases. Results: Of 14 scientific articles found, after analysis and evaluation following the inclusion criteria, 6 were selected to compose this review study. Final Considerations: The results ensure that health professionals have knowledge about pain perception in neonates. However, their performance on this issue is still disturbing since it demonstrates the need to improve practice together with the evidence, as professionals do not effectively apply protocols that include validated methods and instruments to assess pain in newborns. born. Thus, pain management is impacted by the multidisciplinary community within neonatal intensive care units.
