Abstract
Objective: To characterize the epidemiological counter and to estimate gender differences in the relationship between control of NCDs and COVID-19 complications between patients treated at PHC from a countryside city of Bahia. Methods: This is a quantitative, cross-sectional, and analytical study, using medical records of 274 patients with COVID-19 and NCDs, treated at FHU from a municipality in Bahia, between March 11th of 2020 and November 11th of 2021. Patients were classified to gender, age, diagnosis of COVID-19, control, and diagnosis of NCDs. The statistical analysis was through of Stata software. This study was approved by the Research Ethics Comitee. Results: Among patients, 63,5% were women, and 38,5% were men. 274 patients had hypertension; from this, 14,6% also had diabetes. Of the patients, 93,1% of patients were not hospitalized and 2,2% came to death. Uncontrolled blood pressure was higher at the time of COVID-19 diagnosis than in FHU measures. Conclusion: There is most patients with COVID-19 were women. In the both genders, the COVID-19 may have contributed to lack of control of blood pressure. In addition, emphasizes the importance of PHC in the patient’s follow-up.
