Abstract
Objective: Evaluate the epidemiological profile of leprosy in the city of Imperatriz, in the period between the years 2010 and 2019. Methods: This is an epidemiological, retrospective and descriptive study with a quantitative approach through research in the SINAN database, in the period from 2010 to 2019. Results: Of the 2,161 new cases identified in the period investigated, the study showed a decreasing detection rate between the years 2010 to 2014 and an oscillation of data between the years 2015 to 2019, once during the year 2018, SINAN registered the lowest number of cases, however in 2019, there was again an exacerbated increase in this aspect. Multibacillary cases highlighted with 72.5%, predominating among male people, with incomplete elementary education. As for the clinical form, physical disability and detection method, 50.3% were dimorphic, 60.8%, grade zero and 46%, forwarding, respectively. Conclusion: It was concluded that the incidence rate of leprosy in Imperatriz is high, thus the present work contributes to understanding the dimension of leprosy in the city, in addition to assisting in directing actions and strategies for the control and prevention of the disease.
