Abstract

Objective: To understand the inflammatory manifestations of psoriasis and its association with coronary diseases. Methods: This is a systematic literature review. Articles found using the descriptors “Psoriasis”, “Coronary Artery Disease”, “Inflammation”, published between 2017 and 2022, in English and Portuguese, were selected. After review, works that were not Systematic Review or Controlled Clinical Trial were excluded. There remained 9 publications from the VHL, PUBMED and ScienceDirect databases. Results: In this area, the studies were organized in terms of quality and summarized in the form of tables. There was emphasis on the relationship between psoriasis and coronary diseases, highlighting the role of pro-inflammatory substances: TNF-Alpha, Interleukin-1b and Interleukin-6. It is explained by the creation of a feedback loop that one condition stimulates the establishment and expansion of the other. A fact that confirms this phenomenon is the higher prevalence of cardiac lesions in patients with severe psoriatic lesions between 20 and 40 years of age, these patients had similar lesions to elderly dyslipidemic individuals. Final considerations: The review provides an overview of information about psoriasis and its cardiac manifestations. Based on the seriousness of these conditions, there is a need for further studies on the treatment and prophylaxis of these inflammations.
