Abstract

Objective: To evaluate, in infants at risk of developing allergic diseases, whether the use of probiotics helps in the prevention of atopic dermatitis. Methods: In this systematic review, a bibliographic search was carried out in electronic media, in the period between 2018 and 2022, in the virtual databases: PubMed, LILACS, SCIELO, Portal Capes and BVS. The Health Sciences Descriptors (DeCS) in English were used: ''Infant'' AND ''Dermatitis, Atopic'' AND ''Probiotics'' AND ''Disease Prevention''. The study population were infants at risk of developing atopic dermatitis. The “Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation” (GRADE) system was used to assess the quality of the evidence. Results: There was a reduction in atopic dermatitis in 62.5% of the analyzed articles, 75% of the articles used more than one combination of probiotics, the most effective group of probiotics was clarified and it was observed that the use was 100% safe of the articles. Final considerations: The use of probiotics in infants is effective. Its use reduced AD mainly in moderate to severe cases and in infants who used it up to six months of life.
