Abstract
Objective: To describe the main cardiovascular manifestations in HIV patients using antiretroviral suppression therapy. Methods: Reference materials were collected by searching and selecting the Pubmed databases, the Virtual Health Library (BVS). The Health Descriptors (DECs) “cardiovascular diseases” and “HIV” were used, related to each other through the Boolean operator “AND”. As selection criteria for articles, full text available, year of publication between 2019 and 2022, language in Portuguese and English. Results: Cardiovascular manifestations in HIV-seropositive patients can be mitigated by compromising the body's immune system, supporting the inflammatory process that is proposed by metabolic alterations that affect the cardiac patient, such as dyslipidemia, peripheral insulin resistance, coagulopathies, among other manifestations that can lead to fatal consequences even in patients using antiretroviral therapy. Final considerations: Late diagnosis of the presence of HIV in patients' bodies was listed as the main limitation for therapeutic success, as well as containment of clinical complications inherent to HIV infection.
