Abstract

Objective: To analyze the off-label use of Isotretinoin in the treatment of dermatoses. Methods: This article is an Integrative Literature Review, based on the question: “What are the forms of off-label use of Isotretinoin in the treatment of dermatoses?”. The following Health Sciences Descriptors (DeCS): “Isotretinoin” AND “Rosacea” AND “Seborrheic Dermatitis” were found in the National Library of Medicine (PubMed), Cochrane Library and Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO) databases, 181 articles. After the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 15 studies were selected. Results: The use of Isotretinoin proved to be effective and safe for the treatment of Seborrheic Dermatitis, Rosacea, papulopustular lesions, skin changes due to age, acne and scarring, with the first two being highlighted for off-label use. However, it presented limitations and reservations about some groups of people who cannot make use of it. Final considerations: Isotretinoin, in the treatments of the evaluated studies, proved to be relevant in the joint action for the improvement of skin conditions in several dermatoses even in off-label use.
