Abstract

Objective: To report the case of a female patient, 36 years old, who presented as her main complaint dentin hypersensitivity caused by thermal stimuli and aesthetic impairment, not knowing how long she had had this discomfort. Case detail: The clinical examination revealed the presence of Miller class I gingival recession. When verifying its etiological factors, it was concluded that the presence of biofilm, brushing trauma and the insertion of the labial frenulum, collaborated for its development. It was then decided to perform a frenotomy and root coverage using the flap lateral displacement technique. During the surgical procedure, scaling and crown root planing were also performed, followed by topical application of 5% tetracycline. Final considerations: With a postoperative period of fourteen months, it was possible to observe an excellent aesthetic result, elimination of dentin hypersensitivity, complete root coverage, that is, the receptor site was 100% covered with gain of keratinized gingival tissue and conditions necessary for maintaining oral.
