Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the strategy plan for coping with chronic non-communicable diseases in the State of Amapá, from 2018 to 2022. Methods: Documentary study, assessing premature mortality rates and risk factors for chronic non-communicable diseases, according to data from the Global Burden of Disease and the Vigitel survey. Results: The variation in premature mortality rates from chronic noncommunicable diseases between 2018 and 2022 was greater than the annual reduction target of 2%. The decline was smaller in 2018, but the death rate rose in other years. Regarding the evaluation of premature deaths from these diseases, those related to the circulatory system were the most common, corresponding to 40.1% of these deaths. When evaluating the percentages of these deaths by sex, it was possible to verify that men in all the years evaluated, presented higher compared to women. The prevalence of risk factors for smoking, obesity, physical inactivity, excessive alcohol consumption, diabetes mellitus and arterial hypertension were also identified, in which it can be observed that the rates are higher in the first years investigated, with statistical significance, just not for excessive drinking and hypertension. Conclusion: The results of this study exemplify that research on chronic diseases plays a fundamental role in aiding the strategic plans implemented by the government, in an attempt to reduce morbidity and mortality due to chronic non-communicable diseases.
