Abstract
Objective: Analyze through the literature the main surgical interventions for fractures of the metacarpal bones. Methods: Systematic review with the guiding question “What are the main surgical interventions for fractures of the metacarpal bones?”. The study was carried out through searches based on a pre-established search strategy, in the PubMed and Science Direct databases. Results: The surgical technique with locking plates presents a significantly stronger biomechanical fixation than Kirschner wires. Limited open fixation with headless compression screw for metacarpal neck and shaft fractures is shown to be superior in terms of return of the metacarpophalangeal range of motion, ultrasound-guided closed reduction and minimally invasive fixation is an effective treatment of metacarpophalangeal fractures. metacarpus. Final considerations: Compared with K-wire fixation, AO miniplate and screw fixation for metacarpal fracture have better effect, which can effectively shorten the operation time and reduce trauma to patients. This can provide patients with better stability and shorten the onset of palm movement, promote fracture healing and joint recovery and function; may reduce tendon stimulation and decrease the incidence of postoperative complications.
