Abstract

Objective: To analyze and discuss suicidal behavior in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic in Brazil. Methods: Integrative literature review, according to research in the NCBI-PubMed, BVS and SciELO databases, between March 2020 and September 2022. Results: 4 articles referring to cross-sectional studies were selected, indicating a decrease in the prevalence of suicides in the analyzed period. Based on the articles, it was possible to understand that the COVID-19 pandemic influenced suicidal behavior in the country, especially in environments and regions with greater socioeconomic vulnerability, considering several risk factors (alcohol use, female gender, being elderly, low income, previous mental disorders, medication use, sleep disorders, anger, situational crises, anxiety, depression, dissociation and somatic symptoms). Final considerations: The risk factors for suicidal behavior in Brazil, especially with regard to the COVID-19 pandemic, require observation by health professionals, in order to identify and provide early interventions that provide better quality of life for those people.
